The name Humane Society International an organisation that resonates with many of us for the tremendous work they carry out across the globe.  Tasked with advancing the welfare of animals in more than 50 countries, Humane Society International works to improve the plight of animals living in our modern urban environment.  It exists to improve the human-animal bond, rescue and protect suffering dogs and cats, improve farm animal welfare, protect the surrounding wildlife, promote animal-free testing and research, to respond to disasters and unconditionally confront cruelty to animals in all its forms.

Our partner Humane Society International/India, works through a legal contract with the local government and ensures intensive community engagement in their mass sterilization and vaccination projects.  Working with them strengthens our belief that your donations are being fully utilised for the vital causes of urban animal birth control and rabies vaccination.

We are supporting different activities in Dehradun and Bangalore in India presently.  The work we have supported in the two years includes a mass sterilization project in the North of India including supporting the community caretakers and a shelter.

Because of donors like you, K9Lives have achieved the sterilisation of 1322 street dogs, ending needless suffering.  With your help, we can continue to make a meaningful difference on every street.

Humane Society International – INDIA

A project by Humane Society International (HSI) India was launched in November 2016 to target the plight of the Indian street dogs, the “indi”.  The project, in collaboration with the urban local body has successfully completed over 38,954 sterilization and anti-rabies vaccinations, making a meaningful and lasting impact on the problem.

This project would be meaningless without the vital component of community engagement which was started in 2018.  The fear and anger against the strays needs to be redirected to educating the people.  There are various components to engage the community, including direct participation in Dog Management (DM) activities, human animal conflict resolution, welfare aspects, educational event participation and much more.
